Our Promise, In Plain Language
NextPossession™ exists to help coaches, and that only works if coaches — and the schools and student-athletes they serve — can trust us completely. So here it is, up front: we will never sell your data or your athletes' data, never make it public, never use it for advertising, and never share it with anyone except the service providers required to generate your reports. The rest of this policy spells that out in detail.
01 What We Collect
- Account information: your name, email address, school, and coaching level when you create an account.
- Payment information: processed securely by Stripe. NextPossession™ never stores your full credit card details.
- Film and rosters: game video files or film links you provide, and any roster information you submit, used to generate your scouting reports.
We collect only what is needed to operate the service. We do not scrape, purchase, or otherwise acquire data about you, your team, or your opponents from any other source.
02 How We Use Your Information
We use your email to deliver your scouting reports and send account-related communications. We use your video and roster information solely to generate the reports you request. That is the only purpose. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, and we do not send third-party marketing.
03 What We Never Do
- We never sell, rent, trade, or license personal information — yours or any student-athlete's — to anyone, for any price, for any reason.
- We never publish or make public uploaded film, rosters, or reports. Reports are private to the purchasing account.
- We never use student information for targeted advertising of any kind.
- We never build profiles of student-athletes for any purpose other than producing the scouting report you requested.
- We never disclose confidential information to third parties except the service providers listed in Section 5, under contract, or where required by law (and if the law compels disclosure, we will notify you unless legally prohibited).
These commitments apply in every state we serve, regardless of which state's law applies, and they survive any change of ownership: if NextPossession™ is ever acquired or merged, your data remains subject to commitments at least as protective as this policy.
04 Student-Athlete Data, FERPA & State Student-Privacy Laws
Our analysis focuses on team-level tactical patterns — sets, schemes, tendencies. Uploaded footage and rosters may nonetheless include information about student-athletes (such as images, jersey numbers, or names). We treat all such information as confidential student data and protect it as follows:
FERPA
NextPossession™ is a service provider to coaches and schools. Where materials provided to us constitute "education records" under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA, 20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 C.F.R. Part 99), we act only as a school official with a legitimate educational interest, performing a service the school would otherwise perform itself. In that role we: (a) use education records solely to provide the contracted service; (b) remain under the direct control of the school with respect to their use and maintenance; (c) do not re-disclose them to any party except our contracted service providers listed below; and (d) delete them at the school's or coach's direction.
State student-privacy laws
We honor the protections of applicable state student-data-privacy laws — including Ohio's student data protections and laws modeled on California's Student Online Personal Information Protection Act (SOPIPA) that have been adopted across many states. Consistent with those laws, we do not sell student information, do not use it for targeted advertising, do not build non-educational profiles, and delete it upon request of the school or coach that provided it.
Unauthorized footage
Coaches are responsible for having the right to share the film they provide. If you believe footage or roster information has been uploaded without proper authorization, contact us at coaches@nextposs.com and we will investigate and, where appropriate, remove it promptly.
05 Third-Party Service Providers
NextPossession™ uses a small number of service providers strictly to operate the service: Stripe for payment processing, Supabase for secure data storage and authentication, Cloudflare for site security and performance, and Anthropic for automated report generation. Each provider processes data only to perform its function for us, subject to its own privacy and security commitments, and none of them is permitted to use your content to advertise to you or to sell it. We do not share your data with any other third party.
06 Video and Report Data
Uploaded game video is stored securely and used only to generate your report. Video footage is never shared outside the service providers listed above, never posted publicly, and never used for any promotional purpose. Generated reports are associated with your account and accessible only to you and those you choose to share them with.
07 Data Security
We protect your data with industry-standard safeguards: encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for all connections, encrypted storage with our hosting providers, authenticated access controls so reports and film are only reachable from the owning account, and internal access limited to what is necessary to operate the service and support you.
08 Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your data only as long as needed to provide the service. You — or the school on whose behalf you purchased — may request deletion of your account, uploaded film, rosters, and reports at any time by emailing coaches@nextposs.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days and confirm when complete.
09 Data Breach Notification
If we become aware of a breach of security affecting personal information, we will notify affected account holders — and, where student data provided by a school is involved, the school — without unreasonable delay, consistent with applicable state breach-notification laws, and will describe what happened, what data was involved, and what we are doing about it.
10 Children's Privacy
NextPossession™ accounts are for coaches and school staff — adults. We do not knowingly create accounts for, or collect personal information directly from, children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Student-athlete information contained in film or rosters is provided by coaches and schools and is handled exclusively under the protections described in Section 4.
11 Your Rights
Regardless of where you live, you may: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you; ask us to correct it; ask us to delete it; and ask questions about how it is handled. Because we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of — but if your state's privacy law grants you additional rights, we will honor them. To exercise any right, email coaches@nextposs.com. We will never discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
12 Cookies
NextPossession™ uses essential cookies only — to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
13 Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will never weaken the commitments in Sections 3 and 4 with respect to data already in our possession without obtaining consent from the account holders it affects.
